1992 CONVERTIBLE rear wheel spacing
I have had ZERO luck finding info on wheel backspacing and offset for a CONVERTIBLE C4. Can anyone help? I've been told the soft top well makes it impossible to use 17x11 Grand Sport wheels. Ideally, I would like to go with 18x11s or, even better, 18x12s on the back. Will ZR-1 dims work, and if so, will they leave unused space on the inside? I would like them to fit as far IN as possible. If I have to use GS flares, so be it, but I would like to hear from anyone that KNOWS what dims will work on a convertible. What will fit without looking stupid and what won't. Also, it will be getting lowered and might be going to coilovers. Don't know if that matters here. PLEASE HELP!

Years ago, had a 94 convertible. Had 17x11 on the back using AFS 5 spokes and they fit fine. Would have been preferable to have the GS flares. But no problems otherwise.
The only reason the GS convertible did not use a 17x11, there is no place to store it, in case of a flat like there is in a coupe.

Okay! I like the sound of that! So the GS wheel will fit the car? 17x11 with 56mm offset? Do you think an 18" wheel will make any difference? Wait, was it the ZR-1 offset (36mm) or the GS offset (56mm)?

There are probably many 10 1/2" wide wheels with offsets that will fit and allow similarly sized tires for a 'fit' that might be easier to procure into the future.

Hmmm...I have a set of C5 Z06 wheels on my 03 Sonoma. I could try those and see, but those are 18x10.5 with a 58mm offset. I think the 58 is too much but I guess it couldn't hurt to check. I'm just wondering if anyone out there has put big stuff on the rear of a later C4 convertible. Pics would be helpful.

Do a search on here - the answer is out there. I can't recall the correct offset right now and I don't want to give bad info, but it WILL work. I have 17x11 on mine. I'm pretty sure the GS offset is wrong and will have them sticking out too far.

OP - since you have the 10.5" and you say @58 then the rim outer edge would be something near 14mm closer inboard than an 11" @50, a 12mm spacer might make that near ideal. You loose nothing bolting them on. What size tires are on the Sonoma?

Thank you everyone for all your help! Great information. I really appreciate it! Anyone with pics of C4 convertibles (only please) with big meat please post here! More info the better. Thanks again!

Your 305/35/18 is a bit taller than an OE 275/40/17 but the speedometer error would be negligible
The rear wheelhouse liners are the same coupe and 'vert. There's no issues created by the 'vert construction.

Just for laughs, here is what a 17x12 ZR-1 offset with a 335 width tire looks like on a narrow body car..
