1989 Do i need a windage tray???
Im about to get an engine into my car, and ive never built a lot of chevy sb (or any other kinds)? How important is the windage tray. this engine May see 5500rpm?, for a few seconds.
I've installed arp rod bolts, arp head , and i purchased a set of arp main studs?? but then ive also read, that if you switch to arp main studs, you need something measured, or check clearances.
Would there be any advantage of not using the windage tray, and using arp main studs? Or keep the tray (GM Probably has a lot of dev/res hours.) It's not to that point yet, but assembly is gettting close.

Agreed. Use and ARP stud kit and the factory windage tray and oil pan. I'm doing this now and documenting it. Check it out here:

Hope this helps.

Windage tray...
I'm going with the advice from my machine shop.. Which is, use a factory bolts, as there plenty strong enough. Unless i can find a pan that has a windage tray for not a bunch of cash American dollars..
