rear tire replacement
My old Z rated Firestone Firehawks are starting to show signs of dry rot. They don't owe me anything. I have had them for a long time. In 2024, where is the best place for tires? Where to go, and what to buy? My car is a 1993 base coupe, the rear tires are P285/40ZR17. What is the best solution these days?
Thanks

The problem with going to 275/40/17 rear tires for you is that they will end up being a little shorter than your front 255/45/17 tires. If you replace the whole set, then you'd want to match those with 245/45/17 fronts. Otherwise, in the OEM sizes you're stuck with Nitto 555 G2, which suck; or the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02, which is outstanding.
