"Change Oil" light ...how to turn off?
My change oil light came on, even though it has only been less than 3,000
miles since I changed it. (Mobil 1) Oil level was fine...but went ahead and changed it anyway. Now, how to get the light to turn off???

1. Turn key to RUN, don't start.
2. Press ENG MET, twice.
3. Within 5 sec press and hold GUAGES until CHANGE OIL light flashes and goes out. When light goes out, monitor is reset.

From the manual
turn ignition key to on - the engine should not be running
press ENG/MET button on the trip monitor. Then within 5 seconds press and release ENG/MET button again.
Within 5 seconds of the above, press and hold the RANGE button (1991) or the GUAGES button (1992 through 1996.)
The change oil light should flash. Hold the GUAGES or RANGE button until the light stops flashing and goes out.
If you make a mistake during this procedure, turn the ignition off and retry the procedure.
Hope this helps ... Jim

Davevette2003,
It may be that the time before last Oil Change Interval was not reset. Thats probably why the "light came on although its been less than 3000 miles since the last oil change". If you go by miles to change the oil, as I do, just turn the Oil Change light off when it comes on and perfom oil change based on miles.

Doesn't synthetic oil last 7500 miles? Seems like everyone changes oil at 3000 miles, even with mobile 1 synthetic. how come?
