Default Very disappointed in custom dual exhaust....

well, this place came highly recommend and i had seen previous work done by these guys, but im very disappointed in the quality of work on the exhaust.

the bends and welds were ugly. they didnt match the 3" pipe onto my headers very well. they broke off a bolt in my gutted cat so i cant even use that since im yanking the dual setup off my car.

no leaks or nothing and it is fully functional, but not what i expected. the loudness is fun for about 5 minutes, but then it gets annoying.

oh well, lesson learned. im going back to the stock setup until i can get a decent catback. probably the worse $260 i've spent on the vette so far.

if anyone in the austin area wants a functional (not pretty, no cat or muffler, 3" to 2.5") dual exhaust setup for a l98, swap me your factory CAT and it's yours. you will need to come and get it since it is in 1 piece.

that bites, dude... the problem with exhaust is that one style does not fit all.

Don't feel too bad.
I spent > $500 for a cat back system and 2 flowmasters.
You are sooooo right about the 5 minutes.
It's been almost unbearable since.
My OLD worn out muffs didn't cause this much noise and resonance.

I still have those old factory mufflers sitting in my garage, I believe. If you want them let me know.

Sorry to hear your woes! :( I love the fit and sound of my SLP 3" cat-back, but unfortunately it has been discontinued. Good luck in your new search!

Every time I think about changing the exhaust, I find another post about the first five minutes. Still stock, I just can’t find the right set up. I don’t think I will change until I find another Vette with the right sound inside and out.

Good thinking.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Just hope I can drive it long enough without getting pulled over until I can get it taken care of. Ive got stuff rattling more and more everyday because of the exhaust too. hehe
