was afraid of such. that's all i could come up with on my own, wanted to put out a feeler for an easy button.

i already have to modify a stock tank, reckon i mise well do it all.

Pyrotect modified my stock tank to be E85 compatable with baffles and road race legal.

Not cheap by very well done, the picture is just one from their web site.

So how did you get your tank to Pyrotect? They're somewhat local or .......

i have been looking at pyrotect. the tank needs a gen v gm pump flange and, from my crude measurements, a sump added to accommodate.

i guess we can peel open the tank itself and baffle it, as well.

I'm curious. You guys keep saying about finding a tank that is compatible with E85. I've used E85 for years with the stock tank. Now I of course swapped out the sender. What about the tank won't work with E85?

i presumed the plastic diaphragm / baffle would not like it. i've used ethanol to clean various parts of old fuel systems and it almost always melted something.

fwiw ecklers told me this fuel tank has no bladder/diaphragm and is internally baffled. i had planned on buying a new tank anyway, guess ill try this one.

None of the aftermarket tanks have the internal lining. I would be doubtful it has any baffling either.

I started using E85 a few years ago on my LS swapped 84 when I wanted more timing. I've never had any issues with the factory tank or baffle "if you can call it that". There are a lot of other members who have done the same thing and I've never heard of there being an issue. Not all plastic is negatively effected by E85. You need to remove all rubber and bare aluminum though.

Foam plus a hydromat works fine. No issues with fuel starvation.

There is a thread somewhere with good instructions on making a baffle out of a Lucas Oil bottle. I made one and it has completely solved my fuel starvation issues when the tank is getting low.

The bottle encapsulated the pickup sock and the return line will feed directly on top of it. As long as fuel is coming back from the return there will always be fuel for the pickup to pull.

I put a surge tank behind the right rear wheel. Stock location pump fill the surge tank and a return from top of surge tank back to main tank.

Fuel pump to engine from surge tank and return from engine to surge tank.

It does not matter if the surge tank is located in the reat or close to the engine.

I started using E85 back in 2005 and no problems at all with the tank.

I tried thaat too and it didnt work. What did was rreplacing the pulsator with a piece of hose. I think that when I went around a corner, the pump would move just enough for the pulsator to leak.

i am not using a factory pump and a tank baffle is different from what i would call a pump shroud.

i think the tank will end up having to be sumped anyway. that ecklers piece will be here this week, i will see first hand what is going on.

id like to think there is some sort of baffle if:

1) they are not using a diaphragm/bladder
2) i spoke with them directly and they told me it was baffled

You should have asked the Tech what a baffle is, without them using google.

as suggested, the ecklers tank is 100% NOT baffled. planned on modifying it anyhow, at least it looks easy to split open.
