Default Anyone happy with Goodyear tires?

I'm buying new tires for the rear tomorrow, and like the specs on the Goodyear F-1 GS-D3 and the GS-C. Both are around $190 each. Anybody have these right now, and are you happy with them?

Goodyears are by and far the WORST tire available for the vette... ESPECIALLY the GS-C.... those things are as hard as a rock. I cannot speak on the F1's, tho...

I have Kuhmo's... I recommend them, or, Michelin, BF Goodrich. Others have enjoyed Firestones and Bridgestones.

Don't know any others.

check http://www.tirerack.com

Kuhmo's are about $115.00 each...

:iagree:
Anything but Goodyears. The F1 is supposed to be good. Unfortunately they made three tires all with the F1 designation. You want the ones they put on Ferrari and Porsche, not vette.

Top end tires: Michelin Pilot Sports, Bridgestone Pole Positions, BF Goodrich Gforce KD, Firestone SZEP
Good economy tires: Kumho, Bridgestone RE71 and RE930.

Bf Goodrich KDWA's....I have them in the back and love them. Soo much better than the GS-C's my dad has on his 94.
Michelin Pilots on the front....better than the KDWA's.
I'd keep with these.

I have the GSC's right now and am happy with these tires. They have proved to be pretty impressive at the track also! I have pulled a 1.69 60ft time with these tires! And normally pull 1.7-1.8's.
I just ordered two Eagle GS's for the front tires today.

I also have no great love for goodyears - they usually do only one thing really well, but stink in other aspects of driving. I've found that equivalently performing BFGs are usually cheaper, and handle more driving situations better. Keep in mind that the GS-Cs that came with our C4s are 12-year old technology, and are being outperformed by a lot of the newer stuff. The GS-D3 is too new, and I haven't seen any feedback on them yet - who knows, maybe they'll be great, maybe not. If I were in the market today, i'd be buying Kumhos.

Generally speaking Goodyear tires are great. The biggest problem I see with the GSC's is treadwear. You'll be lucky to get 15,000 miles on them. I have the Pirelli P-zero's and I'm very happy with them. :yesnod: I think that you can find a better tire for the price your wanting to spend on the GSC's. :seeya

I was not happy with my Goodyears at all. The Firehawks I replaced them with are better in every respect. :yesnod:

YEP, I've had the Goodyear Eagle F1s on my car for about 2 years now and I love them. Wouldn't put anything else on it. Much better tire than the GSC. Very little weight required getting them to balance. That is what I will put back on it when it needs tires again!!!

Tires harden with age. Maybe that is why everyone likes any tire but a Goodyear GSC.

I am also nearing a time when I'll have to replace the GS-C's on my '96. Can anyone recommend a tire that will reduce the road noise? I don't race my 'vette, so the primary goal for me is the noise reduction.

Full set of GSC'S here. They were great when they were new and up to about 2 years old. After that they do get hard and wear is fast also. The harder they get the more bouncing I do around corners. Go with the newer technology.

Nobody has talked about it yet, but I noticed my run flats have saved me a few times from buying a new rim or two here in IL which is probably the worst state for road conditions. I wonder if the other tires hold up well to pot holes? I really hate my run flats but want to protect my rims from bending on those da%# pot holes. I would love to pull some dead weight out of my wheels by running a better and lighter brand tire but I can't afford to be fixing rims all the time. Any suggestions?

GS-Cs suck.. but sorry guys... The Goodyear Eagle F-1 Supercar tires are the best tire out the on the market....... They are nothign short of amazing..... They are super sticky and seem to last a long time too! I have about 15,000 on mine and they look almost new, i would say they have about 75% of good tread left if not more, check them out, and trust me you will love them no matter how much you hate goodyear.....

I have runflats and warped a rim with a dip at a storm drain grate(damn DOT engineers). I was going 80mph at night and FX3 in the performance mode. I figured it warped because of the runflats.

Goodyears SUCK, period. I have not had the occasion to put them on my '92 roadster, but have used them on other vehicles I have owned. Not only do they wear out fast, the company will hassle you for warranty claims. Take most everyone elses advice and steer clear. I have used the Pirelli P-series on the vette with good mileage, traction (wet or dry), handling, and ride. Everyone has their preferance but stay away from the Goodyears.
