I have some motor kits on order for my 87 headlamp motors. I see that the kits come with 2 gears. My question is how do you get the pins out of the motor shafts to replace the other darker plastic gear? I have tried tapping them out with no success. The gears on the shafts look ok. I don't want to damage the shafts. Any help much appreciated.

I believe the pins are tapered so be sure you are driving them in the proper direction.
