Default Stock Hood Clearance with this planned build?

Hi all,

Total noob. 1985 Corvette

I ordered the following engine from Jegs when they had their sale on last week: SBC 355

I'm planning on using this EFI as well.

Does anyone know what intake / air cleaner (perhaps a carb hat) combination will fit under the stock hood? I had my eye on this Weiand intake.

Hoping I don't have to cut any holes.

Appreciate any insight.

Thanks.

A long time ago I used that same manifold with a carb and it fit with a low profile air filter. So I think you should be fine. When you get to the point of putting on the air cleaner you might need to order one from a place that has a good return policy. Like Summit or Jegs. Then try one out. If it doesn't fit try again. Or you could put playdough on the throttle body and close the hood. Then you would know how much clearance you have to work with.

That's good to hear it worked for you.

That's true, I can always order two air cleaners, use the one that works and send the other back.

Thanks for the reply!

Why did you pick the FI-Tech? What sold you on it?

If you are going for max hp a thin filter or drop-base filter setup is going to kill quite a bit of power. Welcome to the stock hood clearance and fitment paradox.

My brother used it on 3 builds and hasn't had any issues.

It was also on super sale. Alternatively, I was looking at the pro flo 4 XT, but it was 3x the price.
