I roasted the brakes on my 94. and I'll send my ecu out to get it tuned. and then tweek that. I've gotten to play with the Delfi system some, there are many layers to that software. kind of a pain until you start to understand it. I never got that far with it.

I was under the impression that you had a 90 C4 vette not a 94.

Obviously you can do what you want, but pad selection and good fluid are far more important than a big brake kit unless you are actually tracking the car. My 96 had a 396 with about 420rwhp and I autocrossed it on 11" wheels front and rear with very sticky 315-width tires (either BFG Rival S or Hoosier A7). It had the stock J55 brakes with the aforementioned z26 pads and I never had any brake fade, ever...even with a codriver and tons of runs on grippy concrete pavement. For 99% of the people who buy them, BBK kits are just a waste of money. Also, one disadvantage of them is that you can't run stock wheels with them. If you're doing track days where you run 20-30 minute lapping sessions, then a BBK is very helpful. Otherwise...

For the record, I currently own a 94, I've been bit by the opti spark poor design.(I love driving in the rain) so I'm working on getting the 1994 all repaired, and send it down the road and I'm working at going back to a 1990 to keep and mod to what I want. I think I kill the brakes because I run back road on the west side of Wisconsin. Lots of wonderful road that go up and down thru valleys that I run all day on. You will kill brakes no matter what. With what I've read, and the real budget I'd like to stay with. I think going to a factory 13 inch quality rotor, good pads, and DOT 4 fluid. On a fun note, My wife would love to put on a set a high end brakes, loves the look. C5 brakes are a no go, as I want the look of the factory 1990 wheels. The car that I'm after is going thru auction in a few more days. So most likely I'm going to be stuck with two vets until spring. (I'm waiting on the new optispark or it be up for sale on the site)

Wilwood brake kit for your 90 will fit your stock 17 inch wheels. Here is a link to a video I did of the install, They are expensive compared to HD brake conversion or C5 brake conversion.

The only thing I’ll add is you start closer to 400 if you sort/mod your 94 than going Pre LT1. There has to be a reason you are going through numerous opti problems if that is your only reason for ditching the platform?

I would think cam, LT, tune alone would be 350 (guessing as I haven’t jumped into power adders yet). Maybe throw a supercharger on?

Regardless I am sure you have your reasons so good luck, it sounds like it will be fun once you get this done!!! Posting more to follow than anything

How do you get the Opti wet from driving in rain?

the 1990 came home yesterday from the mecum auction, engine and trans seem good. its a little slower than the LT1, but not by much, I think its got a chip in it, maybe a cam too. Finally got the opti swapping in the 1994, no change, the opti didn't seem great, so not a bad thing to swap it, and the water pump looks like it was starting to seep out the bottom hole. But still runs poorly once it warmed up. I got to find someone that can talk to the computer to see what its saying.

You can always run a converted LT1 intake on your L98 best of both worlds.
Good head/cam youre easily gonna hit/exceed 400 to the ground. David Frederick in the parts section occasionally converts them. Not too hard
