How can I change my 92 ECM settings?
I've always heard a burnt chip is the only way to go on the 1992 ECM.... but I've been looking around this section of the forum, and I see alot about lap-top software, and ECM updates??? What are my options here, I know I can plug in a scanner and look at what everything is doing, but how can I change things for my ECM???? Or am I just out of luck without a chip???
Thanks!
Thanks!

There is not alot you can do wthout getting your ecm parameters tuned for youe setup. With a hot cam you must be running rich at idle and the lower rpms. Your idle is probably lumpy since you have a stock chip. I started burning my own chips for my 92 with a hot cam. Welcome to the hot cam club!

That is true. Read the FAQ and it will sort of give a good idea of what is needed and why. The links in there go more into depth on most of it.
Here is what I have and did to get going:
1. Bought Datamaster and ALDL cable from AKMCables.
2. Bought Craig Moates adapter and 5 AT29C256 EEPROM's.
3. Bought Tunercat.
4. Bought a used Toshiba Tecra 730XCDT laptop to use. (floppy&CD-ROM).
5. Bought pocket programmer....not good.
6. Bought EMP-10 from Needhams. Works awesome.
7. Download stock BIN file from DIY_EFI ftp site by matching my PROM to their extensive listings. My PROM is a BDBK4779 sticker on it for id.
8 Burned a new EEPROM and waaaaa hoooooo...works like a champ. :D
The beginning of my PROM days has begun. :reddevil
