Best TIRE pressure w/ Street Tires
What is the best tire pressure for street tires? For launching on the street and high speeds? I have a 96' a4 LT1 with Goodyear Eagle GSC p285/40zr17 on the rear and 'same brand' p255/45zr17 on the front. If anyone can fill me in the best pressure that'd be wonderful... thanks a ton!

I run 30psi all the way around, but that is what the verts call for. They are different then coupes on tire pressure. I dont know if it gives better traction on a take off, but it does help the ride.

it's different tire to tire, anywhere from 30-35 psi is in the ballpark, just make sure the fronts are the same and the rears are the same. a 33/30 spilt is fine you just want the two rears the same and the two fronts the same. right now i'm running 33psi all the way around

Re: Best TIRE pressure w/ Street Tires (Black96Corvette)
I run 30 lbs. at all four tires. I have 285 40r 17 Michelin Pilots at all corners. When I purchased my Corvette in May , the tires had 35 lbs. in them. It rode like a rock, every pebble on the highway was noticable, hitting a rock of any size was an explosion. I live in West Virginia where road conditions are a test of man and machine, 30lbs is something I can live with. So far, wear pattern on tires are good.

Since there is more weight on the front end with the engine being up there, I'd run a little higher pressure in the front than the back.

For road trips and such, I run 35 all the way around for spirited driving, 30 psi all teh way around, at the drag strip, 28-30 in the rear and 45 up front.
