Default Lightweight Flywheel question

Does anyone have any recommendations for a lightweight flywheel for an '89 Corvette with ZF-6? It'll be used for track days mostly. GM has a lightweight flywheel pn 14088646. Does anyone know the part number of the stock flywheel or the stock weight?

Thanks,
Steve

Ive had GM's lightweight flywheel (approx. 16 lbs) in the car over one year with lots of auto-x and track without a problem. Do not use dual mass clutch disc. You have to get a disc with damper springs (Camaro etc)

The stock dual mass flywheel is approx. 43 lbs.

Be aware of additional trans noise with single mass flywheel.

Steve,
The GM performance parts catalog shows P/N 14088650 as the standard weight flywheel for one-piece crank seals (86-up). It does not show how much it weighs though. The P/N in your post is the 16lb nodular iron flywheel for 86-up high-perf applications and is a good choice for stock class track use. I read somewhere that the nodular iron lightweight flywheels have been tested to 10k rpm without coming apart, but they need to be inspected regularly for cracks. ;)

Thanks for the replies,

Can someone elaborate on the single vs. dual mass flywheel/clutch thing. Is a flywheel for a late L-98 the same as for an LT-1? Would a single mass flywheel and clutch from an LT-1/T-56 Camaro work in an L-98/ZF-6 Corvette? Are there any write-ups on this information?

The 4+3 flywheel was a factory lightweight single mass around 16lbs, not sure if that is the P/N for it or not above.

I have a light weight one in mine... its noisy since theres no dampener on it, it transfers all noise to the tranny, so in certain RPM's it sounds like the tranny is bad, plus it clatters when in neutral and the clutch pedal is out... but its just because theres no dampener on it... Some people don't like it... i think it sounds odd, but i don't care... its all about performance (and it was cheaper)

anyway... the sound is definately something to get used too also. It might sound like your car is knocking like i mentioned above when in neutral but nothing is wrong with it...

Does anyone have any experience with this?? Are the splines on a ZF-6 the same as on a T-56?

Splines are the same I think, I know both are pull type, but I think the pressure plate from the T56 is taller. If you had both clutch set-ups out of the car and assembled you could compare the stack height..
