Default Strange Clicking noise from rear of car

1989 vert. 69,000 miles. Redid the wheel bearing, and half shaft unjointed last winter. Drove the car all spring, summer and fall with no problems. Got the car out of storage today since it was dry and 63 degrees in Ohio in January. Car has sat since Early November on a battery tender. Car started and ran great just like it always does. Drove it around for a half hour and noticed when accelerating from a dead stop, from 2,000 RPMs to 4,000 RPMs the car make a clicking noise from the rear of the car that sounds just like when you would put a playing card on the spokes of your bike. No noticible difference in running or performance. Doesn't always do it. Only does it when accelerating. Does not do it while cruising or at highway speeds or idleing. I am baffled as to what it could be. Any ideas?

Yep you did not replace the Teflon washers when you did the bearings.

May just be ramblings, so take it as such.
When you did the hub, did you get the brake and parking brake reassembled correctly?
What torque did you set the rear axel shaft nut to?
Replace the Teflon washer?
Double check the u-joint straps and all the suspension bolts to insure they're tight?
Does it click or make any noise when shifting from neutral to reverse or neutral to forward gear?
Have you double checked the half-shaft to wheel to see if there's any play there?
Checked the u-joints in the drive shaft?
Check the c-beam to insure it's tight?
Insure the new hub bolts and wheel nuts are tight?

It's got to be in there somewhere but need more diagnosis first.

Here is an odd one that happened to me; check your brake caliper.

When I first bought the car, it made this little "clicking" upon acceleration. We took the rear brakes apart and found that the driver side caliper had one of the mount bolt holes "ovalized (I just made that word up) and the caliper would float/move when there was no pressure on it.

Maybe not, but you never know....

I had this going on for a while. It was the u joints on the rear axel. They are pretty easy to replace.

Thank you for all of the input, I finally got a chance to work on the car a few evenings this week. Purchased new teflon washers. took the rear bearings out, replaced the teflon washers, greased the splined shaft with mobil one. just got back from a 75 mile cruise, got to love sunny, 60 degree days in Ohio!! It seems to be fixed. no more sounds ar clicking. Thanks again !!!

Good to hear it's taken care of. Now with the weather the way it's been, you're going to enjoy it all that much more.

I had the same problem a long time ago. Greased the splines with anti-seize and that fixed the noise.
