Need help with part identification (3 large pictures)
I don't even know if this is a part of my vette but here goes.
I found this pin laying on the frame under the alternator/airpump assembly. It looks like it has been sheared on the end with no grooves.
Thanks for your help.

Looks like a hinge type pin for something...but I wouldn't think a door hinge pin ( they are flat on top )

Re: Need help with part identification (BBA)
Well it's not anything from the engine area from what I can tell. I've had that area apart a million times and have never seen anything like that. It does look like the hinge pin for the rear glass hatch though. I've replaced those as well. It may also be something that was thrown up from the road. I know it sounds cazy, but I had a nail that was thorwn up from the road and went through the side wall on my tire then back out. LIke you would pin a flower on your dress jacket. It didn't pop the tire though. It was the strangest thing I"ve ever seen.

It looks like a splined brake pin from a large semi truck. Like some one else said, it must have gotten kicked up. :yesnod:

Re: Need help with part identification (JonM)
kinda like the other day when i was driving with my buddy and i ran over something and i slowed down and said "what is it?" His eyes popped out of his head like he'd seen a ghost and said "It's a pulley!!!!!!" For a moment there i got kinda scared but then i checked my engine and realized it was running fine and not missing any pulleys.  Must have been something some pos lost at an earlier point in time.

Re: Need help with part identification (Wheelman)
Thanks guys. I kinda suspected it was road debris, but wanted to make sure. It didn't appear that it could come from anything in the immediate area, and the car hasn't changed behaviour.
Thanks again for putting me at ease :yesnod: :yesnod:

Just to be sure, check your headlights. Mine had a pin similar to that, that was walking itself out. It has to do something with spinning the headlight around.
It doesn't look like it, but you never know.
