Default canton road race oil pan... leaks at seams

my car is down, so i figured id go on a crusade to try and track down what creates a 'mist' of oil on the underside of the oil pan, flex plate cover, etc.

i used dow scrubbing bubbles and cleaned everything up real good.

to my surprise, i didnt see any oil film coming from seals or gaskets .

it appears oil 'seeps' out of the front most welded seam of the canton oil pan.

has anyone else had issues like this?

is there a permatex gasket maker or something i should smear along the seam to make this area less prone to leakage?

we are talking about a tiny leak. not enough to create any visible drips on the driveway.

nevertheless, i want things to be perfect and dont want a meas on the underside of the car

After I installed my Canton road race pan over ten years ago, I noticed the weld right by the drain plug leaking. I used some PC7 to seal it and it hasn't leaked since. Good luck, Joe

Drain the oil and hopefully it's high on the pan, then sand like a bit around it and use the right stuff. It'll be more flexible then epoxy and not crack off.

I had a Moroso pan leak at a weld. Drain the oil. Jack the car so the leak area will be dry; in your case, raise the front of the car even more. Sand the area and JB Weld the thing. It worked for me until it was time for a freshenup at the end of the season and the area was rewelded.
