Catch can
anyone here running a catchcan?
If so what brand?
I'm getting a lot of leak out my seals.
Wanting to redo the PVC system with a catch can
I don't want it open, I want to pull a vacuum on the crankcase

if not, the boost goes thru the pcv system the reverse way (from what is intended) and pressurizes the crank cAse when you are in boost.
im also running an oil catch can off my pcv system (with open breathers). i get a little bit of oil in it. my theory is its from some mild blowby that occurs under boost.
if i did not have the catch can there it would get sucked right into the intakr manifold the moment i let off of the gas after being in boost.
this would dirty intake manifold, intake valve, heads, and piston tops.
so thats why i run an oil catch can. i think its a good idea.
i do not have it plumbed to pull a vacuum on the crankcase. some guys claim that can even add some hp by promoting better piston ring seal.

i think you can plumb it the way you want to to pull a vacuum on the crankcSe under boost.
ask this question in the c5 forced induction section and they can help you out

Have you looked into any of the systems that "pull" from the exhaust? Just curious. Maybe they don't work well with muffler cars. I really don't have any knowledge of these systems but will need one pretty soon.

I the valve is setup to pull a vacuum under idle,
and keep the boost in the manifold under boost
But it doens't pull a vacuum under boost, it just vents
right now I have a short loop similar to the stock setup
I'm thinking a two can setup since I dont want to get oil on th MAF
and keep the boost in the manifold under boost

I have the catch can plumbed to the intake tube between the air filter and the supercharger inlet. I haven't measured it but I think there is enough vacuum in that area to vent pressures from the crankcase. I also have the MAF next to the air filter so the metered air stays behind the MAF

Hi Guys !
First we need define what it is you are trying to do. The PVC system and the Crankcase Vent system are two distinct systems.
The PVC system is a good system as it keeps the engine clean. The PVC system has nothing to do with crankcase venting. Other than an in-line check valve on the PVC I see no need for a catch can. Won't hurt anything but a lot of time & plumbing for what ? And the PVC system has nothing to do with oil seeping out here and there.
Now the crankcase venting system is another story altogether. You always want max venting on your crankcase to avoid oil leaks under boost or oil dipsticks being blown out.
And if you need a catchcan maybe you should be looking at an engine rebuild. Just run an open vent with proper baffling on each valve cover. If the vents start dripping oil you have a tired engine. A decent engine with a proper build will blow no oil out the vent.
The reason these vents are sometimes ducted to the air inlet is all about emissions. If you must do so and are blowing a lot of oil then yes a catchcan is a great band-aid !

Under normal light pedal throttle the PCV system will draw fresh air thru the crankcase. Maybe that's a light vacuum.
Under WOT, with or without a blower, it's not possible to maintain a vacuum. Perhaps an air pump evacuating the crankcase is as close as you can get.

I'm using a can from mightymousesolutions.com. Check out their website. They've even improved their product from when I purchased mine. At the time they sold a catch can for boosted vehicles that had a built in PVC. I have been happy with mine so far. I'm running -10 lines from my valve covers to the catch can.
