Default DIY Exhaust ?

What I want to do is buy a pre made 2 1/2"X pipe, some straight 2 1/2 pipe and a couple 45 and 90 degree angles, use my old exhaust as a template and cut and weld a new one. Sounds easy.I have cut and welded pieces into old systems. I just dont know where to get material. I have checked pepboys and Autozone but they only have short pcs. and not much in 2 1/2. also I wanted to get Corsa mufflers. Can I get them separate from the cat back system. I have no need or want for cats. I just want 2 1/2' duel exhaust with a Xpipe and Corsa mufflers.

Summit & Jegs.. stock all the exhaust material you will need. but you are not near a local store to stop & shop. you must have a custom shop near you in NJ. that would have material you need to purchase.

Summit and Jeg's both carry what your looking for. I built my own cat back system using Summit materials for my 85 for racing.

ebay for the x pipe and other odds and ends. I always save old exhaust systems. Orielly stocks some cheap pipes to help out too.

Pretty sure a local muffler shop will sell you whatever pipes you need. Check with a couple shops and go with the least expensive.

I emailed Corsa last week and was told they will only sell their mufflers as part of the "system".

I bought my x-pipe off Amazon for $25, took my rotted out bends into a muffler shop and they matched them as best as they could. They also sold me all the extra tubing I needed. I think I might have paid $80 for all that. Not every muffler shop will do that, but if you live in a big enough town, you'll find one that will.

Thanks
I must be looking at a similar x-pipe I know it is stainless. Were all the pieces that you got from the muffler shop also stainless? . Can you weld stainless to reg pipe?

I did exactly what you are talking about, with the stock system and pre bent welded pipe. I used a single muffler with a x pipe built into it off of ebay in place of the cat, and have targa tip mufflers out the back. Very happy with it....got the 75 degree and 45 degree off of ebay as well. True dual all the way back with very little drone. Did it in my driveway for about 110 bucks. (I already had the Targa muffs)

Little late to the party.... I did the a similar thrash to my vette a couple of years ago after I swapped my 4+3 to a T56 trans. No way was that factory exhaust snaking around that new trans and I need a quick solution to get back on the road! Bought some straight pipe and a couple of mandrel bent "J" bends from Summit. I have minimal experience welding light stuff like exhaust tubing so it was a good learning curve. Didn't do an X pipe, just an H crossover. Still used the factory manifold flange/connections, no cat, cut off rear Y and spliced in, essentially a true dual exhaust. It's amazing how smooth and big those mandrel pipe bends are compared to ordinary crimp bent crap. Not bad for a hack like me
