Best option on the Bose speaker amps?
1993 coupe.
The right rear amp started popping so I decided to replace both rear amps
I was going to pay corvette centrals price for their new old stock they gobbled up. Or would it be an upgrade to send my old amps off and have them rebuilt? Thanks

A real upgrade would be to toss them into the trash, run fresh wires to the speakers and new speakers. Bose was good in it's day but that day is long past. The king is dead. Get new speakers and a head unit and rewire. After that, any speaker should work and NOT just Bose.

I don't think there is an up grade but you can send them back to Bose and have them rebuilt. Otherwise you will have to go to the expense of replacing all speakers and a new head unit. If you like the sound of the Bose radio and the amps are easy to get to then just send the amps back.
I did the "let Bose rebuild them" route for several years on my 88. Got feed-up pulling the door speaker box in & out, twice. So now I no longer have a Bose unit.

There will be lots of good information in the Audio/Electronics section of the Forum regarding the Bose system.
With a bit of searching there, you can find vendors that can repair the amps, speakers, or even provide you with relays.
The later C4's had separate head units and radio receivers. So if you install an aftermarket radio, you will have to extend the antenna cable to reach the new unit. Also, an aftermarket unit can cause the BCM to display a "SYS" error code where the odometer readout is located. Again, more information from the Audio section will be a big help.
