Under hood lights...any easy way to turn them off?
Under hood lights...any easy way to turn them off with the hood open?
I'd prefer to keep my hood open at shows, drags, etc. but, i don't want to run down the battery. And i really don't want to disconnect the battery cable. I was thinking about splicing in a simple toggle switch to the lights. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you follow the wires down the hood, you'll find the electrical connector. Just disconnect it!!! :yesnod:

Down in the front drivers-side "well" near the nose is a fuse clipped into a little covering. You can remove the fuse and this will turn off the lights. I think that this is documented in the owners manual but I'm not positive.

Those are the inexpensive ways.
I got the kit from MAD that comes with a wiring harness within spiral wrap and a switch box. The box is stuck to the front of my left inner fender well so that it can't be easily seen. The package looks neat and the flick of a switch gets the job done.

(sorta non related) In my sick quest for less weight, I removed both light assembies. Even better now is whenever I need light on something I can just plug in the light assy and the wires are long enough to reach the rear of the engine. All I need to do is glue a magnet to the light housing and I can stick it where I need it most.

I have found that if I raise the hood to about 2 in from full up position then the lights don't come on.

I installed the Mid America switch also. Very easy to intall and looks professional. I leave the lamps off, cause the switch is so easy to find even in the dark.
