I am the second owner of a 1986 corvette, bought it two years ago this coming August. for the past two winters the car has been stored in a heated classic car storage. this year when I picked up the car I noticed the brake fluid reservoir was empty. I picked some fluid up, filled, checked for leaks on the ground and found none......took car home. the car sat for about 2 weeks and I noticed the reservoir was empty again with nothing visual on my floor. I decided to check each caliper and bled the system at the same time. I waited another 24 hours and rechecked and the fluid had dropped 1/4" where is the fluid going to, I can not find any visual leaks. any help for this newbie much appreciated!!

Check the abs unit it the locker behind the seat.

this area is completely dry, after another two days the level has dropped another 1/2" and rubber diaphragm was expanded. I neglected to say that when I did bleed the brakes, the right rear never seemed to get all the air out of the line........maybe brake line has a small leak but not dripping?

Get a can of spray foot powder and spray down the system and look for the wet spot.

It's probably worth bleeding the ABS module. You could have a small leak in the unit. Did you try to feel for any sign of moisture under the ABS pump?

well I found the brake lines a bit damp right behind the left front wheel, so I'm assuming there is a small split in one of the lines. looks like there are four tubes, but I only see two from master cylinder, correct? best place to purchase individual line? thanks

Check the floorboard by the pedals and also check the vacuum line to the booster. The seal in the master could have gone bad and the booster is filling up with fluid.

unbolt the master cylinder and pull back from booster and check for brake fluid. Quick and easy.

looks like Black89Z51 & Robert Perkins hit the nail on the head, although I removed the master cylinder and found that there is some fluid from the back of the MC coming out. I also saw a 1/2" slotted hole under the MC and it looks like fluid has been coming out or had run down. not sure I'm seeing what I would think a typical seal would be. on MC or booster?

I received a new master cylinder a couple of weeks ago and finally installed it last Sunday. now I'm finding that the brake pedal is hard as a rock. I did some internet searching and looked for anything obvious, but no help. something simple I'm missing?
