Why is my tranny so hard to shift in the morning?
My tranny is always so hard to shift during the first 15 minutes in the morning. I have to force(and thats not good) it into reverse, and first gear it only marginally better. I changed my tranny fluid, and it didn't help much. Anyone else have this problem?

I am assuming that you have a standard shift car. If so, you may have some air in the system requiring pressure to build. Try pumping your clutch 8 or 10 times before you put it in to gear. You may have to get the seals replaced in the clutch master and slave cylinders soon.

Good advice all, but I had the same problem, and a much simpler solution.
I notice in your post that you said you changed the tranny fluid. If this isn't the same as the clutch fluid, then make sure your clutch fluid reservoir is full. I had the exact same symtoms (EXACT) and I found that the clutch fluid was low, I bought some GM clutch fluid from a dealership and refilled it - no problems since.

Mine was stiff, replaced the fluid with fresh factory fill, no change. Then I switched to Castrol synthetic and a Hurst shifter, big change :) I also bleed the clutch now at the same time I do the brakes (once a year). I'm very happy with my ZF now.

Is there a way to bleed the system?
I use the factory clutch fluid GM p/n #12345347.

give the poor thing time to warm up. you should dirve slowly (20-25) for the first 10-15 minutes while the car warms up. dont rev engine hard, and you houldnt have to shift much at all if you keep the speed down.

I have a very slow leak in my clutch master cylinder and have the exact same symptoms when it gets low. It doesn't have to get very low to cause this problem. Check the fluid level. You can add some DOT 3 brake fluid to it to bring it up to the top. If you take the ECM off, the master cylinder is just below it - piece of cake.

I'm waiting for the local GM dealership to get in some clutch fluid. What kinda place doesn't stock that stuff??!! Some one told me not to use brake fluid, but the dealership told me it was the same thing.
