Ive never been a fan of those without supporting mods. When I did the supercharger I used one and honestly couldn't tell a difference after installing it. But on a normal motor I think its a waste of money.

Also known as the airfoil...waste of money. No noticeable increase in HP.

Mods like that only make your car faster by lightening your wallet. Save the money.

I saw a dyno test that was done on a HIGHLY modified engine. They gained something like 11 horsepower, which would not be noticeable, especially on a stock or nearly stock engine.

Just remember Corvette Mods as well as other retailers will tout manufacturers outrageous claims of HP increases just to help sell their product.

Just to add a couple more cents worth, I think the *theory* behind the airfoil is correct, it's just that (at least IMO) as a bolt on it probably adds as many airflow disruptions as it supposedly removes.

There are several articles both here (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...take-mods.html) and at SuperChevy about the bennies of smoothing the airflow through the throttle body - not huge HP, but a few, maybe a slight uptick in MPG and an improvement in throttle response.

Didn't know at the time that this was also called the airfoil. I know many people hate on that thing lol.. But I lf this gives a better throttle response I'd consider getting it. Or is that just another thing they said about it to sell their product?

It probably will make you get more appealing to women, teeth whiter, "johnson" a little longer, etc, etc. If Cliff is right that it gains 11 HP on a HIGHLY modified motor at WOT, you don't have it so you won't gain it except on the Placebo Effect.

Your question is not rare so don't take the howls, catcalls, whistles and hooting personally.

We all want free HP (actually torque); a fantasy fanned by hype in marketing such products. Any "up to" gains, can be negative gains, cost not withstanding.

This. There will be no felt change in throttle response.

I think it was the same vendor that said their AIR Pump removal kit was worth 20HP. Maybe 3HP or in that area, if that. A 20HP increase would be expected from a set of headers and a good free-flowing exhaust.

I'm sort of embarrassed to admit that I have a throttle body air foil on my engine. I was taken in by the hype and bought it from Doug Rippie back in the '80s. They're the people who claimed 11 horsepower gain. They did state that it was on a highly modified engine, so at least they were honest about that. It did absolutely nothing for my engine that I could tell and the only reason it is still on there is because I figure it isn't hurting anything.

I just looked on their site and they don't show an air foil as one of the products they sell. I wonder why...

I installed one. I'd do it again. Horsepower is expensive. The idea makes sense to me and, if memory serves, I paid about $18.00 Shipped from eBay. If a TB airfoil adds only 1HP at WOT, it's a reasonable investment. You nay-sayers can flame me all you want to but, not only did I pick up that theoretical HP for only $18.00, the act of installing it taught me a few things about my Throttle Body.
