Need Some Help Troubleshooting A/C
My A/C has been working fine until it suddenly started blowing hot air. It was converted to R-134A years ago. I thought maybe there was a leak or it was low on refrigerant. I bought a bottle of R-134A refrigerant with the gauge and connected it up to the low pressure port on the air drier. The compressor ran briefly and then shut off. The pressure was 150psi. What would cause the low pressure side to be at that high of pressure? The FSM is of no help here.

Get a Little wire and jump the low pressure switch. Just locate it pull it off jump it and leave it disconnected and see what pressure ur at. It might be 150 because the clutch isn't engaged and running the compressor. Don't run it that long jumpered. Maybe 15mins tops and if it goes to a real low pressure while its jumpered Its low. put some more in

If its a 150 with it jumpered and the compressor running do not add any because it's screwed up. Something let loose and plugged up most likely ur orfice valve/filter for starters but most likely it was a leakdown and hope for a real slow one u can't find then u can pump it up and you'll be good for another 2yrs

There ya go I hear those low pressure switch connectors go bad a lot and if its not going lower 45 psi at about 2000 rpm its overcharged and will discharge a higher temp. You need it to pull lower to get colder

So bleeding off a little Freon might make it more efficient?

You nailed the problem. It's the connector. I've checked the Corvette parts sites but can't find one. Any ideas?
