It would be a Dana 36 (called D36 for short here on the forum). IT might have 3.07 gears. If you look under the center arm rest or in the glove box you should see a build sheet sticker. If you find code "G92" that would be the "performance axle package" with the 3.07 gears. If not you probably have something like 2.59 or 2.73.
Unless you do a lot of mods to the engine, the 3.07 would be the best "all around" performance gear for you.

Regardless of the transmission all '84 MY cars were 3.07 ratio except for the "FEW" VERY FEW 3.31 ratio cars. There were none of the mentioned ratios in the 2's NONE.
They were ALL also D36 builds - no D44 production for resale in '84
There's many '84 cars that are "other than 3.07" presently because when they failed many got "whatever was available for the least amount of money"!
