Default LT1 Timing Cover Seal Replacement (picture)

I'm at the half-way point of changing optispark. I want to change the seals in the timing cover and the gasket to the cover while it's all apart. Is it possible to remove the hub from the end of the crankshaft while the engine is in the car and does it require a puller? If yes. Can the two smaller seals be changed without removing the timing chain cover?

you don't need to remove the cover to change out the water pump drive seal or the Opti seal.

How about this part of my question?
Is it possible to remove the hub from the end of the crankshaft while the engine is in the car and does it require a puller?

I never had to remove the hub to do what I needed to do, I just had to remove the Balancer/pulley. I wouldn't mess with the timing cover gasket unless it is leaking or something.

Yes. It's a little tricky but can be done with a common steering wheel puller.

Good question, I know when I did my opti it did not have to come off and there wasn't enough room to get it off.

Here's a vid - you can also make a water pump seal tool out of a Sharpie marker that has been emptied and cut off:

Nice videos! The timing covers look different than mine? Is there a video that shows an actual corvette LT1 timing chain cover removal?
