Default Will any of these Billet Specialty wheels fit my 89?

Would these Billet 9.5" lite wheels fit my 89 Vette? Would the 7" backspacing work, or would one of the other backspacings work?..They come in 4"- 5"- 5.5"- and 7" backspacing.... Would the 11" wheel at the bottom work with it's 4" backspacing.?.. How much would they stick out or inside the wheelwell.? I love these wheels but don't know if they would fit my 89 or not.... I bet (WVZR1) will have the answer......WW

Hey - I didn't look at the wheel links but a C4 @ 56mm is 7.4 approx. for back-spacing so you would loose .4 clearance @ the suspension and the tire/wheel is "pushed out" the same .4 of an inch. It's generally assumed that moving the tire/wheel out 1/2 or so inch is a plus.

***There - I didn't let you down!

The 11" is a "NO GO"!

**** But my paper and pencil let me down! I've fixed it.

I would call Billet Specialties then order from Summit if you chose.

The first wheel link will fit, with no problems!...

Stock 17x9.5 wheels have a 7.4" backspace and the first wheel link has a 7.00" backspace which will make the wheel sit 3/8" more outward which is not a problem.

Additionally, I can assure you the wheels won't protrude beyond the wheel wells -- as they are set-in MORE than 3/8". I'm using 3/4" more offset on my (89's) fronts and they work perfectly. That BARELY sit outboard the wells.

That 11" wheel with 4" backspacing would protrude nearly 3" from the fender of the car. If you remove 3.5" of backspacing, that's how much it will be pushed outward. IMO, there's about 3/4" leeway on the rear wheels. I went wheels that have 6" backspacing -- which means my rears stand out about 3/4". Looks beefy but some don't like the extra cleaning from water splatter. Or the look.

Note: 11" rears are a tough bird. The really don't "make" our backspacing though they can be special ordered at a steep price. If you're willing to spend $2k+, you can get staggered wheels with 11" rears. Look directly the the manufactures. I liked the Spirit of Boyd wheels as sold by one of the late Coddingtons' sons.

I did though!

I had to change the info - paper and pencil did me bad.

I'm surprised I wasn't "busted" by GKK - I believe the 9.5 X 4 with the 7" would be maybe ideal.

Well, the inportant thing is you came back and corrected your data.. You know way more then most, and one hell of a lot more then me about Corvette wheels........ I don't know if you guys have ever seen "Mick Stevens" 1990 Corvette that he just sold on here recently, but these are the wheels he had on his car..I alway's thought they looked great but never really looked into getting a set until now..I just don't want wheels that look like all the other Corvettes on the road....Mick put 15" wheels on his car and he had them anodized to make them darker, mine would be 17" wheels with just the polished aluminum.......I lightened the wheels on "Micks car" below in photoshop to make them show up better..The wheel below is the one I like in 17" and the polished lip will make more of a contrast between the wheel and tire...The second wheel is with part of the spoke and rim anodized, which may look cooler on my black car.........WW

In case anyone wants to know about what fits and how they look on the earlier cars...

I have an early model car (1984) with the narrow suspension and I use a 15X10" 6.5" BS wheel on the rear. The rear tires are 28X10.5 MT slicks and they come right to the outside edge of the fender.

Man, that car looks sweet....What a great looking wheel..I think I like these wheels better then the Fikse wheels..Would those 15" wheels fit on the stock 89 or would something have to be changed..I just looked on the Billet site and they make a 15X10 with a "7.5" backspacing" which is what the stock wheels are.....I'm still getting the 17" but I would just like to know if the 15" would fit my car..........WW

They should fit fine BUT... the inner barrel of these wheels is very small in diameter. You will have to grind some of the top fins off your brake caliper and possibally the top corner for clearance.

Also depending on how tall of a tire you run you will have to trim the rear inside edge of the inner fender well. With the 28" tires I run I had to cut quite a bit.

A set of 15's with a 275/50-15 (26" tall) for the rear would be nice for going to the drag strip.

Thanks.

The car runs low 9's in the 1/4 mile. 5.90s to 6.0s in the 1/8th depending on how much ballast I have or dont have in it.

Car is currently apart for some chassis and engine updates. Shooting for 8.40s in the 1/4 and 5.30 in the 1/8th next season.

The ones I used on the rears are their "f" body rims (10x15). NO trimming of any type, for calipers, inner wheel wells etc. (28x10 mt d.r.). The brakes are 12", if you have 13" front brakes the 15" rim will not work. If looking at the 17", there will still probably be an issue with the fins" on the front of the caliper (see pics. below) however, rotor size then should not be an issue.
Unlike the 84-85, your offset on the rears should 56mm. (approx 7.5"). 'F' body 15" rears are designed to clear everything. I don't know if they make a 17" "F" body rear. If not, the issue might be the same as the front (fins on calipers). The only real way to know will be putting them on (mock up) without tires and see what you need to do......if anything.

I still have the wheels and tires as the new owner did not want them. The centers, and barrels were powder coated gloss black and are for sale. They are absolutely mint with maybe 300 street miles. I will not separate them, if someone is interested in all 4 let me know.

The issues are caliper clearance. I used a 3/16 spacer (cut as both eccentric and concentric).
without trimming and no spacer.

backside (note no stepped barrel):
