Will a '88-'96 glass targa top fit a late '86 after adjustments?.........thanks

The tops aren't '88 - '96, the third generation is '89 - '96.

If you know for a fact that yours is an '86 "late" then the only "direct fit" is 86L - 88. If you wanted to use the later top you need to change the hardware on the car" to match the later top.
