POTTER & BRUMFIELD POWER CONTROL RELAY in RH rear compartment
EDIT: 1995 Convertible
Does anyone know what the "POTTER & BRUMFIELD # VF4-15F11-Z01 14100455 POWER CONTROL RELAY" in the passenger side rear compartment is for?
EDIT: It is connected to the same wire harness that the Bose Gold Series tuner is connected to.
Power antenna relay, maybe?
It has the following wires to the connector:
3 - Orange
2 - Green
1 - Black
Thanks for the help.

If the car in question is a 1987 coupe (from your user name), then it is probably some aftermarket addition. My '86 coupe has no electrical stuff in that compartment, but I suppose that could have changed. The 14100455 does look like a GM part number though. Upon further thought, I guess it could have something to do with the Bose speakers (my car has a Delco radio, so no power to the rear speakers).
The antenna relay is buried in foam rubber (I assume to prevent rattles) under the rear surround, near the hatch release solenoid.

First question in most any auto parts store, repair facility or dealer is: What year?
The year could be important. That part # was used for several different controls in many GM passenger cars, it actually has a '91 Corvette application but is used along with a connector for repairs to many different applications. There are AC and fuel control applications for the part # also.
Your reference to wires isn't of any use either without further explanation to include "YEAR" - Do you have a particular problem you're trying to address? Is the car a coupe or a 'vert?

There is only one relay for the Bose speakers; it's behind the DIC in the center of the dash. Each Bose speaker has it's own amp and it's attached to the speaker base.
Potter-Brumfield is the name of a company that makes relays but it's hard to say what it's being used for.

The C4 ha s a number of relays for the various systems and some of the relays are the same component. For example, the fuel pump relay and the 4+3 OD relay are the same part.
I had to replace the Bose relay in my '87 a couple years ago and I think it was a separate part number. PITA to do but it brought the radio back to working order.

I expect that's the relay that supplies power to the amps on each speaker. I don't have my FSM hando (94), but if I recall, that is the only relay in that compartment.
