Default L-83 Performance Heads?

I am looking at getting some performance heads to address the flow problem with L-83s. I am going to get a different Crossfire custom intake and probably some 2inch TBs or get mine bored and some 90lb injectors. Anyone have any suggestions/experience with new heads on an l-83?

There are many production SBC heads that are superior to the L83

What he said. Don't bore the TB's. They won't make any diff on a 350 motor.

Don't I need a certain type for the crossfire intake to bolt up? Like one's a 12 bolt and one an 8? Which is mine?

Your heads are regular 6 intake bolt SBC heads , the same as any cast iron SBC heads from '55- '86 ,the Vette alum heads from L98's
and most aftermarket replacements

Vortec heads have only 4 bolts and require a special Vortec only intake which I don't believe you will find a CFI version of

Thanks for the info sir. SO my best bet is some performance aluminum L98 head.

I replaced the 624 heads on my l83 with aluminum pieces from Edelbrock The original heads have 76cc chambers and the Edelbrock heads have 70cc so the compression will bump up a little depending on the head gasket used. I ended up using a victor .026 head gasket. These heads also allow valve lift of .575 nice springs and valves

Changing heads might/generally does require a swap of ECU.
