Default OBD2 to OBD1 connector question

I have an OBD2 scan tool that I would like to use to monitor some live data on my 94. I have seen many OBD2 to OBD1 connection converters but no one says if they allow the 2 reader to actually access 1 data. They just say it allows you to connect a 2 tool to a 1 port.

So my question is, if I get the connection converter, can a 2 tool read data from a 1 port or are 1 and 2 different "languages"?

Some scanner do both, but most ODBII will not read OBDI. What is your model #?

Not sure but you may want to look for an actron 9140 or 9145 scanner that reads both OBD 1 and 2. I paid $99 for my a few years back.

I've got the Innova 1303 so it does only 96 and newer and isn't expandable. Not a smar buy on my part.

Ask around your parts for a mechanic with a Tech2...lots of ex-GM mechanics have them sitting in their toolboxes.
