Bad gas???
88' had been sitting for a couple of years....replaced fuel pump, filter and topped off with new gas. Takes a while to start and releases a rich smelling smoke. I'm sure it had old gas in it....could the smoke and smell be the old gas burning out? Thanks for the help.

You should change the fuel filter and run some type of fuel cleaner thru the system. How much gas did it take ? If you get lucky it will clean out the system and you might be OK

Honestly if it sat for a couple years and never ran or anything like my 89' did when I got it, then I would drain the fuel before you happen to make anything else worse. I did it and change the pump and filter and have not had any fuel problems yet. A year and a half later.
Just my opinion.

pull the vac tube on the pressure reg...see if there's gas..
then.....while you"re waiting for the factory manual you need, take off the tb.. clean it/ install a new iac....probably run a lot better there's instructions in this forum how to set the idle/tps...
