Default 1984 Floppy Driver's Side Mirror

1984 power mirror, Got a floppy driver's side mirror,

From the pics below i could see the cross shaped metal piece that has pins that mount the mirror to the motor assembly is broken.

In one pic you can see the pin is still in the u shaped holder.

Is just the pin available ?

Or do i have to replace the whole mirror/motor assembly?

Or fabricate a new pin(s) to hold the mirror on ?

The Trunion Pins are available, check one of our forum sponsors like Corvette Central. Item# 514534. Be careful removing the mirror, it's easy to break the mirror.

The two studs are part of the plastic piece that is attached
to the mirror. The studs have threads that push into the motor.
When you pull the mirror out of the motor you'll hear a ratcheting
noise.

Here's a thread with pictures of a heated mirror assembly.

Trunnions came in today,

Install was super easy, came with instructions, a little grease, slight pressure with the palm of my hand and in it went,

Just need to get a new toggle switch, left and right works on both sides, but not up or down.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

Update:

Power mirror toggle switch came in today,

Installed it ( PITA ) !!!

Before i replaced the switch both sides moved left and right but NOT up and down.

Passenger side NOW moves up and down and side to side !

So that's good !

Driver side mirror moves side to side BUT not up and down.

I can hear the motor click in both up and down toggle switch position but no movement.

Do i need a new driver's side power mirror ?

Ok seemed i may have answered my own question,

Took the mirror out,

Pulled out the pin that is for up and down,

Tested the motor.......IT WORKS !!

The problem though difficult to see in the pics is that the pin is stripped on 1 side only and on the bottom threads.

So just need to get this pin and it should work.

This is the back of the bad pin ! which shows good threads on one side, stripped or flattened threads on the other !
