Default I promised I would post my results on the Airlift coolant refill system so here it is

I was really tired of trying to get the air out of my cooling system. I had tried for days to burp my 89, I tried every method imaginable including , jacking up the front of the car, packing the cooling system (many times), drilling holes from small to large in the stat, driving up steep hills, down steep hills..etc,etc...... I finally found a system that worked to evacuate the air from any cooling system made.. This system worked just like advertized.. You drain your cooling system, draw the cooling system down to 26 inches of vacuum by hooking up to your air compressor , hook up to a bucket or jug of coolant then pull the coolant into your system without any air getting in...I never even had to add coolant to the radiator to bring it up to full , this system filled it up to the radiator neck.. You also don't have to drain the entire cooling system unless you want to, you can just drain the radiator and it will still purge the air from the entire system.. .This Airlift system also checks for air leaks in your cooling system before refilling....If you get this coolant refill system you will "never" have a problem with air in your Corvette cooling system again...Period.........WW

Here it is...

Wow that really looks like quite the device! I'll keep this in mind if I have any future cooling problems

My temps would go up and down as I drove and would be very eratic..If I sat and let the car idle the temps were ok, but as soon as I pulled out on the road the temps would fluctuate from normal to 210 plus degrees and back down again...
My car when burped, with no air in the system will normally run around 180-185 degrees on the highway...I have a Dewitt's radiator cooling a 383 stroker motor....WW

Nice find, this is a great addition to anyone's garage. Even as a Tech I was always paranoid of air pockets. I always let anything I worked on go through several heat cycles checking in between.

The nice thing about this unit is there "can't" be any air in the system because your only pulling liquid in to fill it. Once I drained the radiator, it only took me about 5 minites to pull the pressure down to 26 inches of vacuum and refill with 3 1/2 gallons of coolant. Plus , there is no mess like when you fill by pouring it into the radiator........ They also make a less expensive unit that goes for around $85.00 if someone doesn't want the pro unit at the higher $116.00 price....WW

I work at a GM plant and this is the way we fill/refill coolant. I need to get one to use at home.

Thanks for the review.

Yes! I've got one and used it a couple times already when I flushed my system. Well worth it!

I had heard that the cheaper unit is plastic though. I think the price difference for the brass one is a good deal.

That makes sense.. I also run a Dewitts, and my temps are a steady 185-188° highway, so I think I'm pretty much bled..

Sorry for the highjack.

For your LT1, Do you use the vacuum/fill valve at the Surge Tank or the Recovery Reservoir? If you pull your vacuum at the Surge Tank, do you have to block off the line to the Recovery Reservoir?

Just purchased on of these beauties from Amazon...got the brass bodied vs the plastic. Good insurance given the manner that my tools get treated. Now the bigger question, which Dexcool do you think works best??

I bought one of the brass units several months ago. I'm currently doing a drain/fill/drain to get all the old coolant out (I made the ugly mistake of adding Dexcool to a partially filled green stuff cooling system -- it turned to sludge and has been "rusty" for years).

I'll be using this guy soon...
