Default engine performance problem 1984 vett

I have a 1984 vett that runs rough. It feels like a miss when you get on the throttle. If you go real easy on the gas the car will not hesitate at all. also, when I get on the throttle i will get A backfire through the engine not the exhaust. can any one help me.

Whenever someone says 84 idle problems...I say crossfire stumble.

Balance things by reading the articles here

Classic sign on lean a/f ratio, and/or timing.

Check your ignition timing...check you fuel pressure.

I'd suspect a vacuum leak. The top plate of the cross-fire manifold is a suspect area. There's a bunch of bolts in this area, and the gasket surface area of this plate is pretty skinny. Try tightening these bolts before you replace the gasket.
