Default Where can i buy a stock torque converter and an uprated 2-4 band online?

Hi, i'm looking to buy a stock torque converter for a 89 vette and an uprated band, maybe kevlar or carbon. What size is the stock band?

Preferably i would like to buy them from one website but i'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

... You should buy both where you plan to buy the rest of the rebuild parts for your transmission ... FYI , the 2-4 band is not serviced outside the case ... only the servo is ............

When you say the band is not serviced outside the case what does it mean? All i want to do is change it. Can the servo have s fault? Can it be serviced?

..... You HAVE to disassemble the transmission to change the band ... the Servo is accessible from outside the case but you already have ( if you have the original trans ) the Corvette servo and it should be fine as is ... it is actually a performance upgrade for other GM vehicles that use the 700R4/4L60 trannys ......... what makes you want to change the band ? .......

Have you looked at a parts picture of a 700r4? Unless you know what you are doing, a tranny builder would be your best bet.

We will be dissasembling the trans. Clutches will all be changed. The trans had the o/d slipping and according to the service manual the band could be one of the items that could be causing it.

hi Damien, the band you want to change,it's placed around the reverse imput drum.when you open the 700r4,you have to take off the pump first, some bolts in the bell housing ,then using a puller you slip the pump out, under the pump you can see the imput drum assembly.imput drum has the reverse imput drum mounted on it.To remove the band ,that acts on the reverse imput drum surface ,you have to take off the 2-4 servo assembly and pin (this pin pull on the band to engage it)and the anchor pin ,located on the track worm under the valve body assembly (you have to remove valve body, separator plate, and the accumulator piston assembly in order to have acces to the anchor pin )then you can take off the band.

Good luck. When he's in there, I'm sure he would normally replace the band and clutches. bearings, seals, etc.
