Default Telescoping shaft wont tighten

I got a Steering Column from Ebay for may 86.
This weekend I decided to put it in.

The center Hollow shaft that telescopes wont tighten.
I took a look at the key cylinder and it looks like the guy replaced the Vat Key Cylinder with a No Vats so He must of had it apart somewhat.
Im not worried about that though.

My problem is when I put a 5/16 scew in it, it still telescopes up and down and will not tighten.

Mine had a simular problem but I locked it in postion with a long 5/16 screw.

My question is, is there a push rod thats suppose to be in the hollow shaft that presses against the wedge lock at the base of the telescoping shaft?

Thanks

Well I did a search and this will help anyone with this problem.
It was in the C3 section.

Corvette Central should have it for less than $10. There are two different but I believe all Corvettes used just one length, Cadillac and Olds used different lengths.

7827158 would be the correct GM # and here's Corvette Central cross from that part #:

Yup

Got it ordered.
Now I have to order another star scew, as mine is now to short after I grinded on it trying out a longer home made rod.
