1986 telescopic steering question
I took my steering wheel off to fix my turn signal switch. Naturally something else broke in the process. When I went to put everything back together I found another broken part that I can't identify. It looks like a woodruff key that is in the part that connects to the steering wheel. It is in the base of the shaft.
Any idea what it is called so that I can search for it? Or even better, where can I get one?

key
From what you have described it sounds like the key that sits in at the base of the telescopic shaft. If it has a section that looks like it is missing, do not worry. That is where the tele lock shaft pushes up against to lock the shaft in position.
I have pulled dozens of columns apart and never seen one of these parts broken. Put the key back into the recess in the shaft with the cutout facing you and reassemble the unit.
