C4 Brake Upgrade c5 vs c6

C4 Brake Upgrade c5 vs c6
Hello!! I am planning on doing a brake upgrade to my Corvette soon. I have a 95 LT1, I am basically deciding between c5 and
base /z51 c6 front calipers. What are the differences between these calipers? Is there a difference in pad size from c5 to c6? I will probably make the swap brackets that bolt to the hub myself, I still need the caliper brackets though and it seems like it's hard to find just the front c5/c6 calipers with brackets. I've seen a few swaps done on c4s but if anyone has pictures please post them that would help a lot thanks!

Thanks Glenno, I want to get yellow calipers, here is what I'm going for:
I really like the look of yellow calipers on sports cars like this LP640, I haven't found any pictures of yellow calipers on a blue c4 so it will be a surprise when done

I never heard of an LP640?
You can always spray the calipers yourself!

Hope the link works.

Yea I was thinking the same thing, I seen a couple of places online that sell powdercoated yellow c5/c6 calipers but they only sell sets that include rear and have a core charge it would probably be a better idea to paint them myself, the picture is of a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

The C5 C6 and C6 Z51 calipers are all interchangeable. They have the same piston size, same bolt locations, but the C6 design is slightly stronger.
These are C6 calipers for reference

kubs, thanks for the picture, that looks amazing. What is stronger on the c6 brakes? I thought I read somewhere that the pads are slightly bigger and the caliper itself is also slightly bigger than c5s. I have a- molds so i'm hoping they will clear

Not even close...maybe for used take-offs. (EDIT: I see some sets are on Fleabay for that price...not too sure how, but they are new).
Try $4,500 for the complete setup from DRM...

Exotic Muscle has a similar kit with Brembo calipers for $2,300 front and $2,700 rear....
http://emracingcorp.com/scripts/prod...&sortField=sku
But for the money I'd rather go with a C6 StopTech kit for $2,600 from Exotic

That's 6 piston fronts and 4 piston rears with rotors...a very good deal new.

Wasn't 1995 the year when 13" front rotors became standard? If so, I would suggest trying different pads to improve braking performance. CarboTech has some good pads for both street and performance use. If the flexible brake lines are original to the car, replace them with some stainless lines and do a complete brake fluid flush. For street use, a good DOT3 fluid like Castrol LMA or the Ford Motorsports HD fluid works very well.
If you do go with a C5 front upgrade, you will need to use ZR-1 style wheels to clear the front calipers. The OEM "sawblades" won't work.
There was a thread some years ago that had a pic and dimensions of the custom mounting bracket for later C4's to allow the use of C5 front brakes. You might want to do a search for something like "C5 caliper bracket" or similar.
