52mm BBK throttle body is junk!!!!
well guys as the title implyes I bought my t/b a year and a half ago now it sticks !!! the car Idles really high and you have to blip the throttle at every light to get it to calm down. When It does calm down and you go to take off you cant feather the throttle to move It goes from fully closed to 1/4 throttle with NO modulation in between. I have an aluminum flywheel so It revs quickly to about 3200rpm PITA!!!!! I have since reverted to the stock t/b for now I think Ill try a holley t/b this time. I have heard that orthers have had this problem with the BBK so buyer bewhere!!!!!

Though I agree with the title, I've had a BBK 52mm on the IROC for 4yrs and on the Vette for over a year with no malfunctions.
My big gripe is the quality of workmanship. In both cases I've had to take a Dremel, a file and sandpaper to the TB opening go get the bellows to fit decently.
For your next unit get an AS&M TB! Earlier this year I was in Chandler, AZ and stopped in at AS&M to check out their LTRs (and bought a set). I also inspected their 52mm TB and it is a precision piece. If I need anther it will be their unit.

I second the AS&M tb. They are made better than the accel/lpe pieces, IMO.

I agree as well, my BBK was junk straight from them, the throttle bracket was bent, thus not even allowing the throttle blades to open at all!. junk. If i had a LT1 or newer style throttle bracket, i'd go for the Holley 52mm throttle body, with the nos nozzles already built in.

I've got a holley 52mm. I haven't run the car yet (still working on the harness and computer  ), but the craftsmanship is superb. The throttle blades articulate very smoothly, and close precisely. Other than holley being too stupid to supply the correct length TPS bolts, I've got no complaints so far.
You gotta love the red blades too. :D

I've heard about complaints with the BBK sticking, too. I bought mine used from someone I trusted, and everything has been fine (at least so far), but if I were looking for a new one, I think I would look elsewhere.

I got the TPIS 52mm, It is a nice piece! The do the same as AS&M $285 after exchange, slapped it on and never had any problems!

I would have to put my vote in for the Holley. The craftsmanship is excellent, not to mention that it is a billet piece and not cast. I am running the Holley now and I have had no problems. The Holley is more expensive than some of the others, but you get what you pay for.

I've never been impressed with my 58mm BBK, but I have never had any problems with it sticking. If I could do it over I would go with the Holly unit.

I have a 52mm TB BBK I bought 4 years agao.. not problems.. I am wondering if the quality changed from then. My TB has the BBK/Edelbrock Plate, I have a 58mm TB on my bench with the BBK/Power Plus Plate
Maybe that is where the difference is

I have the AS&M 54mm billet TB and it is a work of art. Works flawless and is beautiful. Had a week throttle return spring when I got is but that was fixed and no other problems.

I agree bought one myself and had to take it off several times to polish the throttle bores. Very poor quality IMO and customer service is herendous.

Hey Black bart nice to hear from you again, Dale and I were the guys who had lunch with you in Ft. Wayne after the LPE tour. Also I'd like to add that after conciderable arguments with BBK I'll be shipping it back for them to fix.
