Default Brake Lights Stay On - 85' 4+3

Hello Friends!

Another question from a relative rookie with electrical issues on my 85' 4+3......

When the I have the key in either the accessory position or have the car started my brake lights are constantly on. I don't have a clue on where to start. Any ideas?

Thanks!

The brake light switch is either loose or gone. Check at the top of the brake pedal under the dash.

The switch on the early cars can easily move out of position

All you got is a switch, unless you have trim holding the pedal down. This happens too.

IS this the same kind of switch like the neutral safety switch? Can anyone please post a picture?

Awesome guys! Thanks, I've been out of town for work here for the last few weeks. I hope to look at it this weekend and then I will let you all know.

Thanks!

Default Fixed!

I got underneath the dash panel as described and looked at the top of the peddle and I found that the brake switch in normal position wasn't be pressed and had about an 1/8" gap therefore not depressing the switch and keeping the brake lights on. I looked for a way to adjust the peddle or the switch placement and eventually got it close and then built up the area and everything is perfect again.. As usual the group comes through. Thanks!
