using krylon dull aluminum on a L98
Has anyone used Krylon dull aluminum #1403 on the intake and the runners? I tried cleaning the aluminum parts but they still look nasty. I was thinking of painting them with that and was wondering if anyone had used that paint to make them look new. I know Eastwood sells a paint that is susposed to look like fresh aluminum, just thinking that I could use this instead of ordering their paint?

Have the parts walnut shell blasted. It'll make them look new and you won't have to worry about paint peeling.

I use a custom rattlecan from MidAmerica # 100-511 named Stainless Steel Blast.
It made from 100% stainless steel and leaves a nice "satin aluminum" like finnish.
It stands the temp in engine compartments and seems to be tolerant to washing.
Does not like exhaust pipe temps......

That Mid America paint comes out nice
That dull aluminum will look good also almost exact match for rallye wheels also.. not too bright nor dark little glint in the light.

Back when I had my '85 torn down for an engine rebuild, I wanted to get all of the aluminum intake pieces cleaned up too. I had really good results with Eagle One etching wheel cleaner. It's made specifically for rough cast aluminum. Should be around the $7 mark at the 'Zone. Give it a look. Just be careful where you spray it.
