Default Found the NOISE... Watch your brake parts.

Today I decided to investigate rattles and noises, as when I had been driving over road joints on the highway, I noticed a strange clunking. I got home and the clunk was louder at lower speeds/barely moving. I started with pulling a front wheel, to check over suspension. I found all in order until I got to the brakes and in particular-the caliper. It was quite loose, so I completely disassembled the brakes and found that there were some clips missing from the bottoms of the pads, and no marking where there should have been if they were installed. Braking forces had ripped the riveted retainers off the backs of the pats and snapped the pin at the bottom of the front left caliper. This was a very dangerous situation, be aware of your brakes, check them once in a while. The previous owner of this car must not have been mechanically aware at all. All is quiet and in good repair now.
