Default Fixed my "Hard Brake Pedal" Shocking cause!

Hello Folks, It has been awhile since I posted anything in this section. Still have the car but have been fortunate to have been driving it more in the last 12-18 months versus always working on it!

One of the items on my short list was to fix the mystery of my brake pedal being so hard. I had zero power assist on my brakes. The car would stop but I had to do a leg press to get the car to stop. I could live with the problem for country cruising but it was a scary thing in town around traffic.

I have been busy with my business and have neglected getting out into the garage and just getting things done on the car. I read a ton on the froum about the reasons for hard pedals. I ordered the booster and finally got to work.

Here was the cause for my rock hard brake pedal... I just never noticed this gaping crack because it was on the done side of the booster! Now the car stops on a dime with those J55 brakes getting a little power assist. Of course it also idels better!

CHECK THE BOOSTER IF YOU HAVE "HARD PEDAL"

Well yes and no... it was under the master cylinder at about 7 o'clock. I could have run my hand under the thing and felt it but I just never did. I was pretty sure the it was the booster cause it obviously would not hold a vacuum.

I posted this because I was surprised at the size of the split. The cause? The car does have headers that the previous owner had installed without coating them. They are now Jethot coated and the new booster has a nice layer of heat tape that will hopefully shield it.
