Default Manual Antenna sold on Ebay

Buddy has a 92 Base Corvette that does not really want to go throught drama of fixing or diagnosing his electric antenna. Has anyone purchased and installed one of the manual antennas that is offered on Ebay? It comes with a key you insert and pull it up gently.

I wouldn't think you're going to get to much feedback on this.

But let me just say one things that comes to mind from being in a business back in the 60s that repaired auto radios. We replaced antennas also which mounted to a metal fender with one nut. The corvette antenna mounts to the panel with a nut it is also secured at the bottom to a support bracket. This takes the stress off the panel where the top nut only holds it in place.

I'm only thinking if the manual antenna might be held only by one nut. If the antenna is up and antenna shaft is grabbed or hit, what the effect on the quarter panel might be. Just a thought.

Why do a slock or crap job if you like the car which is how I look at it.

Your buddy is going to have to do 75% of the work of repairing the existing antenna by just removing it. The manual one will need to be mounted in the same manner as the repaired existing one will.

What happens when it is raining and he decides to listen to the radio?

Default Electric antenna manual switch

Somewhere on the forum i have seen where there was a switch added so the antenna will manually go up and down. I am sure his cheap radio does not have the ability maybe to send the signal for the electric antenna to work. I know i went through two aftermarket radios until i found a JVC that did the up and down automatically.
Thanx

If I see that on any Vette I would laugh, take a picture and post it in the Off Topic for them to have a field day.

That is just trailer-ghetto-trash.

FYI my antenna works fine. This car has 130,000 on it and my long haul truck driver friend has asked me to help him get this antenna to work. I travel from SC to Harrisonburg, VA every year to help him refurb this previous owned[abused] Vette to somewhat decent condition again. NOW can someone please send me the link to installing a switch in the interior to make his tennative working antenna go up and down. If you do a search on EBAY, you will see the manual antenna with the key for a 92 Vette. Thanx

Here is the connections for the power antenna. Basically the PNK wire is the control wire and the ORG wire is the 12 volts supply for the motor power.

Is this enough for you to figure out what you need?

I'm not sure what you're after but here's a pic of the antenna kill switch in my '87. I interrrupted the PNK wire as well.

Thank you for your diagram so i can see if the antenna actual works or it is the radio that will not operate the up and down feature. From this i can diagnose the antenna motor.
