radio speakers not working
I installed a new radio in my 89 coupe, I cannot get the speakers to work. I used a speaker I had in the garage and it works fine but I still can't get the car speakers to work. has anyone come across this problem that can help me out.

Did you wire the old speakers directly to the new head unit without a Bose to Rest of the freakin' universe adapter?
If so, consider the Bose speakers are self amplifying. Look in one of the catalogs like MAM and read up on their adapter.

What is the new radio? Brand? Model?
It's entirely possible that some thing may be wrong with the new radio. Did you plug the antenna in? Did you configure the new radio according to the manufacturer's instructions?
Did you attach the new radio's power lead to a known switched 12v source? Is the new radio grounded properly?

Connecting a radio in not rocket science. I'm going to assume you have power and ground to the new radio because it probably lights up and looks alive. So I'm going to assume it's a speaker problem. Are you using new standard speakers because I have to believe you should be able to hook them up.
If you are using the existing Bose speakers, they use a low level input and require 12 volts power to operate the amplifiers in the enclosure. If you are trying to use these speakers in this fashion, it will not work.
So my question is, what is your speaker configuration and hook up?

The Bose makes a contact closure that energizes the speaker/amp power relay which powers the speaker/amps. Is the new radio making that contact and powering the Bose speaker/amps? Check if you have 12vdc power at the rear speakers. The speakers are 4 wire, 2 power-2 signal.
Being as how the speakers have their own amplifiers the signal from the factory Bose radio to the speakers is lower that what a standard car radio which actually powers the speakers would be.

Projectc4 has accurate information. The radio you bought is probably designed to work and drive straight basic speakers probably 4 or 8 ohms. You can't drive the original Bose enclosures currently because as said is only requires al low level signal and besides you may destroy the Bose enclosures. The actual speakers in the Bose enclosures driven by its dedicated amplifier in the box uses a 1 ohm speaker. This is lower than most after marker radios and probably not a good idea to try.
Read you book for the radio and see what the specs are for the speaker resistance. I think if I understand the situation properly, you might be better off getting new speakers boxes and speakers and selling the Bose enclosures.

I have the same problem only thing is the radio worked for 3 months

does anyone know were the ground for the speakers is located.
Also the rear hatch stopped working. Electricly but works manually.
