Default Low OIL Pressure

OK, so I am having this problem with my car. Oil pressure is good when I start it up then about 25-30 min into my ride oil pressure starts to drop at idle. I was sitting at a stoplight. when i'm on the gas I have no problem but when im not pressure drops. lowest I seen was about 12. not sure if the motor is about to blow but it sounds fine and no weird noises. oh and the oil pump is new. I just bought the oil pressure switch and im going to change that out. hope thats it ` thanks for the input !

My 87 was doing the same thing. Pressure went down to 0 at idle. Hooked up a mechanical gage and it read 59 when my dashboard gage read under 10 cold. Replaced the sender and all is well. Looking at the old sender unit I could see where it was leaking where the wire connection goes into the main body.

Yes replacing the old sender unit solved the low oil pressure reading at the dashboard. The old sender was leaking preventing it from sending the correct reading.

I'm interested in the out come too. My oil pressure is fine when running but drops to near 0 when stopped at a light. All new oil pump as well as sending unit and motor.
