Default Cigarette lighter outlet not working?

My 92 lighter outlet isn't working. I cleaned all the contact and checked for power at the plug-in behind the lighter and got nothing. I looked for a fuse designated for it but didn't see anything? Anyone ever diagnose one of these?

Fuse is behind the radio and DIC. Got to take the center apart to find it.

Whe I took my interior apart, I found that someone knocked the wire off the back of the lighter jack, there is a plug a little deeper in the console (about 8"). That must've happened when the console was taken apart in the past. Check it out, take the panel off and see.

I once workeed on a '79 Monte Carlo with no power to the lighter. Not having a wiring diagram I traced that lighter wire all the way through the harness, took the dash apart, etc. Found it was on the same fuse as the horn and brake lights, neither of which was working but the driver hadn't noticed.

I bought the GM wiring manual for my '84 which is not in the regular shop manual and have found it to be really invaluable, with clear color drawings and a description of operation of each electrical system in the car.

I purchased the manuals for every car I've owned, and I've owned a lot of cars. Great investment and when you sell the car the new owner loves the portfolio that goes with it. Believe it or not, it helps you get your price and shows you were a concerned owner that took care of his car. I have every manual, window sticker, build sheet and every reciept for my car in a 3 ring binder. I also print my own maintenance sheets.

On my '88 the cigar lighter power connects with the glove box light power below the console near the shift lever and then runs to the CLK/CTSY Fuse.

Thats what confused me when the cig lighter in my 92 stopped working so I dug through the FSM and did some searching. The fuse is either behind the DIC or Radio, I forget which and my FSM isn't handy.

I had an 88 and it was the clk/ctsy fuse, on the 92 its in the dash

Ok back off with the panels I just put a new radio in and should have thought about it then. It didn't bother me untill I got a small compressor that plugs in the 12v power source. Thanks!

On my 92 the fuse for the cigarette lighter is located under the glove box on the passenger side. You have to remove the hush panel above where the passengers feet would be. Theres two auxiliary fuse holders and it's in the second one, second from the top and it's marked "B CONV PL".
