Sealer on oil pan gasket???
I have 96 LT4, and I just replaced the timing chain cover gaskets and seals. On to the oil pan. The FSM says put 1" of sealer in each of the four corners where the radius cavity meets the engine block. When I removed the old gasket, there was a spot of sealer in those four spots.
My new gasket is a Fel Pro Perma Dry rubber gasket that states "important: install dry without any chemical adhesive" So do I put it back with or without a sealer in the corners? If so what sealer, the FSM says GM Part # 1052914?

Mike, follow the Fel-Pro directions. NO SEALER. Just make sure that the engine block flange is clean of all old sealant and wiped down with brake cleaner to remove all old oil and crud. I use the stud kit that Mr. Gasket sells to put on my oil pans. It takes the stress off of stripping bolt threads. The Fel-Pro gasket has metal inserts embedded in the gasket that keeps you from over tightening the nuts on the studs. Good luck.

Follow the FSM. The FelPro directions are in reference to the perimeter of the gasket, not the corners.
