Default Head gasket reccomendations?

I'm probably going to pull my heads off for porting later this year. When I put them back on I'd like to use a good head gasket that's going to last like my OEM's have but I'm hoping to use a gasket that'll have a thinner compressed thickness as well so's I can increase my compression a bit. And yes, I'm planning to use new head bolts.

Cometics are the "Cadillac" of head gaskets. Pro Comp might still be making a knock-off -- which might be an option. I used actual Cometics -- as recommended by my builder.

They come in varied thickness, but the final determination would come from your head condition.

Victor Reinz .026 gasket is often recommended for our stock vettes. With the stock .025 piston-in-hole depth and chamber size, the .026 gasket gets you closest to proper quench.

Even if you shave off .01" to clean up heads.

Thanks very much for the input. Do you know of a source or p/n for the Victors?
